1 – Coolant temperature: Usually denotes either low coolant or that the engine is overheating. Stop as soon as it is immediately safe to do so. Catastrophic engine failure could occur if the engine overheats. A recovery vehicle is much cheaper than a rebuilt or replacement engine.

2- Tyre pressure monitoring system: usually denotes either low air pressure in one or more tyres or a faulty sensor. best to have all tyre pressures checked as soon as it is convenient. If the vehicle has a vibration or is pulling strongly to one side, pull over and inspect all tyres for a puncture.

3 – Battery charging issue – this symbol indicates that the alternator is no longer functioning well. Stop as soon as safely possible and have the vehicle recovered to a workshop. Continuing to drive could result in loss of power or the vehicle stalling whilst on the road.

4 – Check engine light – this can be illuminated for any number of reasons e.g. vacuum system leak or a faulty sensor. Best to monitor engine temperature guage if equipped and have diagnosed as soon as possible.

5 – Braking system issue: can be red or yellow. Denotes either worn brake pads or a fault within the braking system.  Drive with caution and have inspected as soon as possible. Do not drive if either – brakes do not respond or if there is any grating noise when the brake pedal is depressed when car is in motion.
